Sillanwali, District Sargodha; March 2022: Mr. Qamar Abbas was in touch with Ahmadiyya Community since long. Eventually he decided to join the community two months ago. Mr. Abbas is the sole Ahmadi in his family. He had to face severe opposition after his conversion.
A man, who was tracking him for days, told Mr. Abbas’s family of his switch over. At this, they turned against him and threatened him with consequences. A local cleric announced his marriage null and void. The cleric gave him an ultimatum of three days to recant, or face arson at his house as well as other Ahmadis houses.
His relatives have imposed a societal boycott against Mr. Abbas. His wife and children are no longer staying with him.
