One of America’s top cardiologists brutally murdered on his visit to Rabwah on 26th May 2014.

Dr Mehdi Ali Qamar, son of Chaudhry Farzand Ali was martyred in Rabwah on 26th May 2014. He was on his way to visit Bahishti cemetery in Rabwah with his wife, son and a relative at around five o’clock in the morning when two assailants came on a motorbike and gunned him down. As he had approached the gate of the cemetery the two men appeared on a motorbike and fired a total of eleven shots at Dr Mehdi sb who was martyred on the spot, before fleeing the crime scene via the main road. He immigrated to Canada with his mother where he passed the medical exams and started his internship. He went to Brooklyn University in New York to specialise in cardiology and started working in Columbus, Ohio and settled there. When Huzoor urged doctors to serve at Tahir Heart Institute, Dr Mehdi was one of the doctors who devoted voluntary service at the institute. This was his third such visit there.

“He was an extremely gentle and compassionate person who never had any disagreements with anyone. His wife says that he was extremely gentle and would always overlook people’s errors and took great care of his family. He was extremely affectionate to his children, and gave time to their education and training and had a most obliging temperament. From childhood he observed salat keenly and loved to study religious books. He had a special love for Rabwah and ultimately gave his life on its soil. He became a doctor a doctor following his parents’ wishes and indeed became a very accomplished doctor and received many awards for his profession.”
