Lahore; December 2022: A criminal case was registered against Mr. Saleemuddin, Director General Affairs and Spokesperson of the Ahmadiyya Community in Pakistan vide FIR No. 99/2020 at FIA Cyber Crime Wing, Lahore on October 28, 2020 under section(s) 295-A, 153-A of the Pakistan Penal Code, 1860 R/W section 11 of the Prevention of Electronic Crime Act, 2016.
The case was registered on the application of Shehzad Ahmad Baryar, Advocate High Court, on the plea that in a YouTube program, Mr. Saleemuddin allegedly used Islamic terms extensively and injured his feeling by commenting on ‘Finality of Prophethood Declaration Form’. The complainant got his application endorsed by the Sessions Court, Lahore that directed the Cyber Crime Wing, Lahore to register the said case. This program was recorded and uploaded on YouTube seven years prior to the registration of the case.
The petitioner filed another plea under section 30 in the court of judicial magistrate Chaudhry Ghulam Murtaza Virk, who added PPC 295-C in the case. The sentence under this clause is death.
