Chak 261 Udhwali, District Faisalabad; April 27, 2022: Mr. Naveed Ahmad, Ahmadi, was attacked while returning home, along with three non-Ahmadi friends. He got two bullet injuries, one in the neck and the other in his arm. His friends remained safe.
In July 2021, a hostile and unruly mob attacked Ahmadis’ homes in this village. Ahmadis defended themselves. The police booked five Ahmadis thereafter and arrested Mr. Naveed Ahmad. In the follow-up investigation, four of the accused were released, while Mr. Naveed Ahmad was kept detained. A court later removed the anti-terrorism clause 7-ATA against him. The other clauses were bailable.
On January 26, 2022, Magistrate Faisalabad Bushra Anwar ordered his release after the plaintiff’s statement of the case withdrawal. Mr. Naveed was released from prison after spending six months behind bars.
Goons of TLP and other extremist organizations were not happy with his release. They threatened Mr. Naveed and the plaintiff after this settlement. The police claims to have identified the attackers.
