Pedestrian shot three times and killed in drive-by shooting on 1st November 2013.
Bashir Ahmad Sahib Kiyani, son of Abdul Ghafoor Sahib was martyred whilst he was going for Friday prayers on November 1st, 2013 at the age of 68. He left behind his wife, Mrs Fatima Bashir Kiyani Sahiba and two sons: Aizaz Kiyani and Shehbaz Kiyani, and five daughters: Tahira Zahoor (who is the wife of a martyr), Naheeda Tayyab, Shahida Bashir, Sajida Bashir, Wajeeha Kanwal.
It is reported that Bashir Ahmad Sahib was heading to the local mosque, Baitul Hafeez, with Muhammad Akram Quraishi Sahib’s 11-year-old son who was also his neighbour. They were just about to arrive at the mosque which was around 2 km from their house when two unidentified motorcyclists started hurling bullets towards the two civilians. 1 bullet hit Bashir Sahib’s temple, and two hit his chest. The child accompanying Bashir Sahib was also wounded with a bullet hitting his leg. Upon reaching the hospital, Bashir Ahmad became a martyr and sadly passed away. The 11-year-old child was cured by doctors and sent home.
Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih V (atba) mentioned in his Friday sermon on 15th November 2013,
“Bashir Ahmad Sahib was very well-mannered and full of emotions. He was obsessed with spreading the message of Islam and Ahmadiyyat and would do so whenever he would get an opportunity. He was extremely brave and didn’t show any hesitance after his son-in-law and son were martyred one after the other.
It is reported that on the day of his martyrdom, Bashir Sahib said to his son that, ‘we will not leave this town, rather it is our duty to protect ourselves’.
Once, during his civil service, Bashir Sahib was posted to Saudi Arabia. However, there was a condition that he had to remove the name of Ahmadiyyat from his passport. He said I cannot do that, even if that means that I do not go.“
