Peshawar; April 2022: A minor Imran Ali accused Mr. Abdul Majeed s/o Mr. Abdul Waheed, Ahmadi, resident of District Peshawar, aged 20, of blasphemy. The police succumbed to the pressure of mullas and registered a fabricated case against him under Section 295-C on September 10, 2020 with FIR Nr. 648 at police station Phandu, Peshawar. The applied section carries sentence of death.
Later, swarms of opponents and mullas attacked and besieged Mr. Waheed’s house; the family had to flee. The police tracked them and arrested Mr. Majeed. He is currently in Peshawar Jail.
Mr. Majeed’s father waited for his young innocent son for about a year, but got tired and he passed away of heart attack on January 12, 2022. Mr. Majeed could not attend his father’s funeral.
The trial of the case goes on in the Sessions Court Peshawar. We have no idea how long it will take this 20-year old innocent youth to get out of prison.
