Punjab Assembly Speaker Ch. Parvez Elahi has lauded the role of Mutahida Ulema Board in elimination of sectarian violence and extremism within the country.
We should have the spirit of tolerating, listening and accepting each other’s point of view. Ulema should guide the government for solving people’s problems. He said while talking to Pakistan Mutahida Ulema Board Chairman Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, Majlis Ahrar-e-Islam Emir Syed Kafeel Bukhari, and others who called on him in the Speaker’s Chambers here on Friday.
Thanking the Speaker, Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi apprised him of the three-year performance of the Ulema Board. Ashrafi told the Speaker that the Mutahida Ulema Board provided guidance to different institutions, courts, government ministries in 208 cases besides clearing 326 academic teaching books wherein no material was included against any sect or religion.
He also paid tributes to Speaker Ch. Parvez Elahi for rendering religious services. “Credit goes to you for unanimous religious legislation in the Punjab Assembly. Your role in the unanimous legislation over Khatm-e-Nabuwwat will be written in golden words. Inter-faith harmony was promoted during your tenure of government. Oath about Khatm-e-Nabuwwat was included in Nikah Nama, teaching of Holy Quran was made part of compulsory education up to primary ‘nazira’ and with translation up to matriculation”, he said, adding that inclusion of subjects of Khatm-e-Nabuwwat and blasphemy in the academic syllabus were proof of Ch. Parvez Elahi’s immense love for the Holy Prophet (SAWW). The daily Nawa-i-Waqt, also of February 5, 2022, of the same publishing house, reported this meeting in Urdu and printed the Speaker’s photo with Ahrar leaders:
