Lahore, October 2023: It is significant that while there has been a multitude of attacks on Ahmadiyya places of worship and graves in recent years, this year has witnessed a quantum jump in such violations. More than 39 Ahmadiyya worship places and over a hundred graves have suffered attacks this year alone.
As a result, Mr. Nasrullah Mahmud, an Ahmadi has filed a writ in the Lahore High Court on behalf of the community that demands protection of the Ahmadis’ properties and holy sites as they are citizens of the Pakistani state. The government of Punjab was named the other party in the writ.
The first hearing took place in the court of Justice Muhammad Sajid Mahmud Sethi on October 15, 2023. He inquired as to why security was not provided to Ahmadiyya places of worship, graveyards and other holy sites. He told the administration to provide the required foolproof security at the earliest and required the Punjab government to submit a reply to the writ petition.
The next hearing will be held on November22.
